Childhood and Early Life

Murman Jinoria was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, on February 21, 1947. From an early age, he honed his improvisational skills in a drama club at the Palace of Pioneers. His talent was nurtured by his first teacher, Vakhtang Sulakvelidze, who introduced him to the nuances of performance.

Education and Theatrical Beginnings

Despite his desire to become an actor, Jinoria's parents initially steered him towards a practical profession. He studied chemistry at the Tbilisi Polytechnic University before pursuing a degree in acting at the Shota Rustaveli State Theatre Institute. Under the guidance of Mikhail Tumanishvili, Jinoria flourished as an actor and gained experience at the "Georgian Film" studio.

Theater Career

After graduating from the institute, Jinoria joined the troupe of the Tbilisi Film Actors' Theater. In 1983, he became an actor at the Shota Rustaveli Theater. Over his prolific career on stage, he accumulated a repertoire of memorable roles, including Victor in "Happiness Irene," the Ghost of Marley in "Christmas Dream," Kent in Shakespeare's "King Lear," and the Judge in "Twelve Angry Men." In 1995, he presented his first solo performance, "The Wind Yearns for Me," based on Georgian poetry.

Film Career

Jinoria embarked on a successful film career alongside his stage work. His debut role came in 1975 in Shota Managadze's "Stone of Pure Water." He went on to star in Lia Eliava's "Sinema" (1976), which earned critical acclaim and became a classic of Georgian cinema.

His most significant film role was in the six-part Soviet detective series "Contraposition" (1984) directed by Semen Aranovich. Aranovich also collaborated with Jinoria on "The Great Game" (1988) and "Krotkaya" (2006). Other notable film credits include "Jacob, Son of Stalin" (2006) and "Slain Soul" (2009).

Later Life and Legacy

In recent years, Jinoria has focused on theatre work and teaching acting at the Tbilisi Theater University. As a laureate of the Georgian Theatre Society Award, he is recognized for his exceptional contributions to the arts. In March 2022, a special event was held in his honor, featuring his poetry readings and a documentary on his life and work.
