Tyra Lynne Banks, commonly known as BanX, was born on December 4, 1973, in Inglewood, California. She is an American television personality, model, producer, writer, and actress. She began her modeling career at the age of 15 and was the first African-American woman to appear on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, where she appeared three times. She was a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 1997 to 2005. Banks was one of the world’s top-earning models by the early 2000s. She founded the long-running reality television series America’s Next Top Model in 2003, which she executive produced and hosted for the first twenty-two seasons till it was canceled in October 2015.

Banks wrote Modelland, a young adult novel based on her life as a model, in 2010, and it topped The New York Times Best Seller list in 2011. She also owns Bankable Productions, which has produced The Tyra Banks Show, America’s Next Top Model, and the 2008 film The Clique. 1. Banks began her modeling career at the age of 15

Banks began modeling at the age of 15 while attending school in Los Angeles. She was turned down by four modeling agencies before signing with L.A. Models. At the age of 16, despite initial rejection, apparently due to her “ethnic” appearance, Banks signed with Elite Model Management, one of the world’s top modeling agencies, in 1990 for professional representation. She was soon featured in the top teen magazine, Seventeen. She relocated to Milan after being offered a modeling contract in Europe. During her debut runway season, she booked 25 shows during Paris Fashion Week in 1991.
